About me

My sewing journey began 8 years ago, influenced by my grandmother, a skilled leather belt maker in Tanzania, and my mother, who mends her own clothes. Sewing, an art, has been lovingly taught through generations in my family.

After working at FABSCRAP and seeing how much waste is produced by brands on a daily basis, I became inspired to take the textile "waste" and create something new. When producing each piece, I save every last piece of fabric to add to my next design. Second Life Strands is my passion project to demonstrate how we can create a more circular fashion industry.
